Sopron, Hungary

Since I had yet to step foot in Hungary and we live nearly at the border, Johannes and I decided to take a Sunday morning train into Sopron.  Just a 30 min ride across the border from Wiener Neustadt, Austria- it was amazing to see the immediate difference in landscape and life as you crossed from 'western europe' into the first few km's of 'eastern europe' which was not too long ago cut off by the Iron Curtain.  Sopron is a relatively big town with a historic city center, several restaurants, and many little local shops.  We spent the day perusing the streets and later had dinner at a not-so-Hungarian restaurant called "Papa Joes"-an American western-style saloon.  It was the first time I've seen a themed American restaurant in Europe, and Johannes explained the political & socio reasoning as to why it's likely located in Hungary and you don't find too many elsewhere in Western European countries.  Here are a few pics from our lovely day trip:
