Bosnia and Herzegovina

As part of our trip to Croatia, we decided we wanted to check out the neighboring country of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The big stop on our itinerary was Mostar, Bosnia & surrounding region~ a beautiful & diverse city that is still recovering from the devastating damage caused by war. While the bridge & old town have been rebuilt & are flourishing, a few steps outside of this small renovated area the shells of bombed-out buildings, pocked-marked homes, and endless cemeteries marked '1993' on nearly every headstone are stark reminders of the months of siege & heavy attacks this city underwent.  For those interested, we found old BBC documentary of war footage from the old town of Mostar during the 1990's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ipua2Mh_F_c It was intense for us to watch as we had stood and walked in most of those places.
